It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Wilf Abel, peacefully at Melmount Manor Care Home, Strabane on 18th June, 2026.

Late of 40 Oakfield Road, Derry. May he rest in peace.

Beloved husband of the late Mary. Devoted father of Angela, Brian, Gavin, Eamon and John. A much loved father-in-law of David, Angela, Natalia, Kerry and Wendy. Loving grandfather to all of his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dearest brother of the late Betty. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of his wider family circle, friends and neighbours.

Wilf’s remains will be reposing at his late home, 40 Oakfield Road on Thursday (June 18th) from 6:30 p.m. Funeral leaving from there on Saturday (June 20th) at 9:25 a.m. for Requiem Mass in St. Eugene’s Cathedral at 10 a.m. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in the City Cemetery.

The wake house will be private from 10 p.m. until 11 a.m.
