Shauna Hennigan
Ballyloskey, Carndonagh, Co. Donegal, peacefully at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, on 1st September 2026 after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Heartbroken by her passing are her beloved husband Conor Hession, her parents Marian and Michael Hennigan, her brother Mark and her grandmother Mary Bonner.
Predeceased by her grandparents Frank and Bridie Hennigan and Patrick Bonner, her aunt Annemarie Gallagher and her uncle Shaun Hennigan.
Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her aunts and uncles Margaret Kelly (Conor), Pat Bonner (Helen), Anthony Bonner (Aingeal), Michael Bonner (Christine) and Kevin Bonner (Adele), her extended family and friends, her colleagues and pupils at Holy Family National School, Rathcoole, Dublin, her colleagues at Rasheeny National School, Rasheeny, Co. Donegal, and the broader teaching community.

Shauna’s remains will repose at her home in Ballyloskey, Carndonagh (F93 E781) on Thursday (3rd September) from 3pm to 10pm and on Friday (4th September) from 12 noon to 10pm where you are all welcome to pay your respects.
Family time outside of these hours and on the morning of the funeral.
Funeral from her home on Saturday (5th September) at 10.30am for 11am Requiem Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Carndonagh, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

She was such an amazing teacher. So kind, patient with the children especially around the most challenging times we had during the covid lockdown.
My son had her as his class teacher in junior infants in holy family school. He is now in 6th class. She has made a huge impact in his life. Shocking to learn of her passing, very sad news. My heartfelt condolences to everyone in her family.
I’m only getting around to writing this message now as it’s just so difficult to put into words how sorry and sad I am at the tragic passing of Shauna. She was an absolute delight to work with for so many years in Rathcoole -she always had a smile on her face & was so easy to chat to & get along with. We will continue to miss her & talk about her. I was lucky enough to work with Shauna in Holy Family NS in Rathcoole for the past few years. Shauna was genuinely one of the most kind, gentle and warm people I have ever met. She had a way about her that was so special, I can only imagine how safe and cared for every child she taught felt. Her loss is so hard to make sense of. I fondly remember her warm smile, her gentle nature and the sense of calm I always felt when I was in her company. This is such sad news. What an unbearable loss for all who knew Shauna – friends, family, colleagues, children and the wider community. A Froebelian graduate, we remember Shauna as a deeply committed teacher who expressed her boundless creativity, unwavering positivity and gentle, kind nature as a teacher. Shauna was a genuinely lovely girl. She had such a nice, gentle way about her and always seemed to be in good form whenever we crossed paths on the corridor or in the staffroom of Holy Family National School. Having Ms Hennigan as their teacher was a true blessing to so many young children in Rathcoole during her time there. News of her passing was hard to comprehend. Words just cannot describe how deeply saddened we all are in Holy Family. Working alongside Shauna was an absolute pleasure. She was such a kind, beautiful soul who gave so much to her job whether that be classroom teaching, working with the choir or giving up her time after hours so selflessly to facilitate our Rainbows separation and loss programme. Shauna was the loveliest, kindest girl and always helped anyone that needed it at Froebel. Her life was cut far too short and for that, I’m heartbroken for her husband and family. Thinking of them all at this awful time.
I’m so very sorry for your loss. I went to college with Shauna in Froebel, and I have such lovely memories of her. She was always so gentle and caring, and she had so much time for everyone.
