Date Of Death: 30th January 2025
It is with great sadness that the death is announced of Seamus (Jimmy) McHugh, Westport, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal, formerly of Finner Camp, and Tuam, Co. Galway on 28 January 2025. Peacefully, in the exceptional and gentle care of the staff of Sligo University Hospital, after an illness borne with great courage and dignity.
Beloved brother of Maura Wilcox, John, Noreen Mullin, Josephine Loughrey, Noel, Gerry, Brendan, Therese Schmidt and Paul. Pre-deceased by his parents Theresa and Seán McHugh and nephew John. Seamus will be sadly missed by his sisters and brothers, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, friends and neighbours.
Requiem Mass at 10am at St Joseph’s Church, The Rock, Ballyshannon, F94 PF53 on Friday 31st January. Followed by burial at Tuam Cemetery at approximately 3:00pm.

It’s very sad to hear of Jimmy’s passing. A soldier of the old school, he was ever respectful, civil and kind. I have fond memories of him, always spruce and well turned out, in Manorhamilton Military Post in the late 70’s. I met him a number of times after he left the Service and Jimmy hadn’t changed, he was still the same old character.
May he rest in peace now and his family be comforted
