It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen O’Connell (née Smyth), peacefully at Culmore Manor Care Home on 19th April 2026.

Formerly of 50 Grainan Drive, Derry. May she rest in peace.

Beloved wife of the late Brendan. Devoted mother of Adrian, Brendan Jnr, Mary, Kevin, John, Christine and David. Loving grandmother and great-grandmother to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dearest sister of Martha. A much loved mother-in-law and aunt. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of her wider family circle and friends.

Kathleen’s remains will be reposing at her son Adrian’s home, 79 Springvale Park, Foyle Springs, Ballymagroarty, Derry on Sunday  (April 19th) from 6 p.m.

Funeral leaving from there on Tuesday (April 21st) at 9:25 a.m. for Requiem Mass in St. Brigid’s Church, Carnhill at 10 a.m. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in the City Cemetery.

The wake house will be private from 10 p.m. until 11 a.m.
