The peaceful death has taken place at her home of Hannah Rodgers Meenlaragh, Gortahork F92 C8PK and formerly of Tory Island. Predeceased by her husband Antóin, infant baby daughter, parents Pádraig and Hannah, sisters Kiti, Eibhlin, Sarah, Mary, Brid, Grainne and Teresa. Survived by her son Ruairí (Noreen), daughters Hannah and Ann Theresa, grandchildren, great grandchildren, in laws, nieces, nephews and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours. Her remains are reposing at her late residence in Meenlaragh with wake commencing at 12 noon today Monday the 27th and Tuesday the 28th. Rosary both nights at 8.00pm, house private after rosary. Her remains will leave Magheroarty pier on wed 29th July on the 8.30am ferry to Tory Island. Funeral mass at 12 noon in St Colmcille’s Church, Tory with burial afterwards in the adjacent cemetery.

I did not know Hannah, but me and my family shared her final journey back to her birth place on Tory Island. It was a poignant experience to partake in prayers on the pier, to witness the many who said farewell there and then to see the many who were waiting on her arrival to the island to be reunited with her husband. It is a journey I will never forget. May she rest in peace and deepest sympathies to her family and friends.
