It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth (Lily) Sweeney (née McIntyre), peacefully at Altnagelvin Hospital on 7th March 2026.

Late of 38 Limewood Street. May she rest in peace.

Beloved wife of Eddie. Devoted mother of Catriona, Lorraine and Edward. Dearest mother-in-law of Ray and Jacqueline. Loving granny of Alex, Tiernan, Lauren, Caitlin, Sean, Conor, Jack, Aoife, Clara, Amber, Robert, Aisha, Amy, Matthew and Jerry. Precious great-granny of Koa. A much loved sister of Emma, Charlie, George and the late Danny, Sheila and Jimmy. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of her wider family circle, friends and neighbours.

Lily’s remains will be reposing at her late home, 38 Limewood Street on Sunday (March 8th) from 8 p.m.

Funeral leaving from there on Tuesday (March 10th) at 10:50 a.m. for Requiem Mass in St. Columba’s Church, Long Tower at 11:30 a.m. Burial will take place afterwards in the City Cemetery.

The wake house will be private from 10 p.m. until 11 a.m.
