It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of David MacFarland, peacefully at Letterkenny University Hospital on 12th May 2026.

Late of Burt, Co. Donegal and formerly of Munich, Germany. May he rest in peace.

Beloved father of Aileen and Grainne. Loving Opi of Olivia. Precious son of the late Moore and Moya. A much loved brother of Jim, Moore, Magdalene, Veronica, Marian, Gerard, Jack and the late Mary, Joe and Baby Eileen. Dearest grandson of the late Nellie. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of his wider family circle and friends both in Ireland and Germany.

David’s remains will be reposing at his sister, Marian’s home, 14 Slievemore Park, Galliagh, Derry on Wednesday (May 13th) from 6 p.m. Funeral leaving from there on Friday (May 15th) at 9:15 a.m. for Requiem Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Creggan, Derry at 10 a.m. Cremation Service afterwards in Lakeland’s Crematorium, Co. Cavan, at 2 p.m. Everyone welcome.

The wake house will be private from 10 p.m. until 11 a.m.
