It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Annie Shiels (née Nelis), peacefully at Altnagelvin Hospital on 12th April 2026.

Late of 4 Abbey House, Little Diamond, Derry and formerly of Fosters Terrace, Lecky Road. May she rest in peace.

Beloved wife of the late Jack. Devoted mother of John, Charlie, Adrian, Paul, Danny, Jackie and the late Marie. Dearest mother-in-law of Karen, Linda, Rebecca, Lorraine, Ann, Solly and Mark. A much loved granny and great-granny to all of her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A dear sister to all of her brothers and sisters. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of her wider family circle and friends.

Wake and Funeral Arrangements 

Annie’s remains will be reposing at her late home, 4 Abbey House, Little Diamond on Monday (April 13th) from 12 noon.

Funeral leaving from there on Wednesday (April 15th) at 11:20 a.m. for 12 Requiem Mass in St. Columba’s Church, Long Tower at 12 o’clock.

Burial will take place immediately afterwards in the City Cemetery.

The wake house will be private from 10 p.m. until 11 a.m.
